Enzo Maresca has provided an update on three Chelsea players and confirmed which goalkeeper will start for us against Legia Warsaw tomorrow.
The head coach was speaking at the home of tomorrow’s opponents upon arriving in the Polish capital.
The Blues face Legia in the first leg of our UEFA Conference League tie, and Maresca gave the latest news on Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia. Fofana had successful hamstring surgery on Saturday, while Lavia suffered a setback before the Tottenham game.
‘We are going to support them for sure because they are our players, because they are young, and because they are human beings and in a moment where they struggle for different reasons, we need to support them,’ stressed Maresca.
‘Unfortunately, Wes will be out for the rest of the season. Hopefully we can get Romeo very soon. I don’t know if for the next game, but he looks quite good in terms of being back soon. We need to support both, and then at the end of the season we will see.’
Maresca also answered a question about Marc Guiu’s status, and whether he could feature again this term.
‘We have good news on Marc,’ responded the head coach.
‘From today he looks quite good, much better, and he can be back before the season finishes.’
Filip Jorgensen has been our Conference League keeper this season, and ahead of this quarter-final tie, Maresca confirmed the Danish international will continue in goal for us.
‘It will be Filip [who plays]. Robert since we started is the number one. For part of the season, we decided to give him some games off.
‘Now he is back, he is okay, and we continue in the same way.’
