All five formed a part of our men’s first team squad for all or some of their Chelsea careers, and we would like to wish them the best for the future.

Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill departs Stamford Bridge a Chelsea legend and a winner after seven-and-a-half years of exemplary service during which time he won the lot.

Club captain for the past two years, Cahill played 291 times for the Blues and scored 25 goals. He won eight major trophies, most famously the Champions League in 2012 when he battled injury to play and star in Munich.

Gary will be much missed by everyone at Chelsea. He leaves with everyone’s best wishes.

Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus in January. He was reunited with Maurizio Sarri after their successful time together at Napoli.

Higuain made his Blues bow in an FA Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday, and opened his account with two superbly-taken goals the following weekend against struggling Huddersfield.

He netted three more times before the expiry of his loan, all sharp finishes that highlighted his natural ability in front of goal. Fulham, Burnley and Watford were his victims, and he more than played his part in our eventual third-placed Premier League finish.

With Olivier Giroud leading the line in the Europa League, Higuain’s involvement was largely limited to domestic competitions, but he leaves having added another winners’ medal to his extensive collection after victory in Baku.

Rob Green

Rob Green provided experienced cover to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero during the 2018/19 campaign before announcing his retirement from the game after a long career which concluded in the best possible fashion with victory in Baku.

His lifting of the trophy to the joy of his team-mates highlighted his popularity in the dressing room, and we wish Rob well for whatever he chooses to do next in life.

Eduardo

Eduardo signed from Dinamo Zagreb in August 2016 to provide experienced goalkeeper cover and competition for Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic. That summer he had been part of Portugal’s triumphant Euro 2016 squad and joined the Blues on a one-year contract following two seasons with the Croatian champions.

He was an unused substitute in six games in 2016/17 and at the end of the season signed a new one-year contract. In 2017/18 he continued to provide important support to Thibaut Courtois and newly signed Willy Caballero, and was an unused sub on a further 13 appearances.

He spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

Kyle Scott

Kyle Scott joined Chelsea as an Under-10 from Southampton. A technical and versatile player, he made his youth team debut as an Under-16 at the start of the 2013/14 season. He figured in both our FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League triumphs the following season, and our successful defences of both competitions in 2015/16.

The USA Under-20 international was a part of the pre-season tour of China and Singapore in the summer of 2017, playing in games against Arsenal and Inter Milan. He was on the bench at the start of the Premier League season and made his one and only Chelsea appearance as a substitute for the last half-hour of a 4-0 FA Cup win over Hull in February 2018.
