The American international spent the second half of last season at the Madejski Stadium after returning from a spell at Nantes. He featured on 18 occasions for Jose Gomes’s Championship side as the Royals finished one place above the drop zone.

After signing for Chelsea in January 2016, the defender made his debut in a Premier League game at Aston Villa before spending two seasons on loan at Vitesse in the Eredivisie.

The 24-year old has been in action throughout the summer for his national team at the Gold Cup, where he played alongside new Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic as the USA finished runners-up to Mexico.
