We begin our build-up to the Super Cup with a look at the key facts and figures, including Chelsea and Liverpool's history in the competition and against each other...
Chelsea's recent record in Europe
The Blues reached the Super Cup by beating Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final in Baku in May.
Chelsea remained unbeaten in Europe last season (12 wins, three draws), which is also a Europa League record.
Frank Lampard’s side are looking to extend our club record 15-game unbeaten run in Europe. Our last defeat was in March 2018, at Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 (0-3).
We have scored three or more goals in five of our last eight European matches. Our total of 36 goals last term was one short of the Europa League record, set by Porto in 2010/11.

Chelsea have won seven of our 18 meetings against English opposition in Europe, drawing seven and losing four.
Chelsea have played three competitive games in Istanbul (one win, one draw and one defeat) but will be making our first appearance at Besiktas Park. Our 2-0 away win against Besiktas in 2003/04 in the Champions League was played in Gelsenkirchen for security reasons.
We have been involved in five penalty shoot-outs in European competition, winning in Munich in 2012 and against Eintracht Frankfurt in last season’s semi-final, and losing the other three.
