Blues linked with Spain defender Gaya
According to TalkSport, Chelsea will try to sign Spain international defender Jose Gaya from Valencia when our transfer ban ends next summer.
Citing a report in French-language website Soccer Link, the broadcasters claimed the Blues are making plans for when the ban expires and hope to sign the left-back ahead of the 2020/21 season.
A product of the Valencia youth system, Gaya made his senior debut for the club at the age of 17 in 2012 and has played about 200 games for the club over the past six seasons.
The 24-year-old made his senior international debut for Spain last September and assisted on a goal in his country’s 4-0 win over Faroe Islands on Monday.
The report indicates he would not come cheaply as he signed a new five-year contract with Valencia last year which included a €100m release clause.
Fenerbahce unlikely to extend Moses deal
Goal.com reports Fenerbahce are unlikely to sign Victor Moses on a permanent deal, despite having the option to buy the winger at the end of their loan agreement with Chelsea.
The Nigerian winger is currently on an 18-month loan and was influential for the Turkish giants with four goals in 14 Super Lig appearances last season as he helped steer the club away from the relegation zone to a top-six finish.
He began the 2019/20 campaign with a goal and an assist in the 5-0 win over Gazisehir, but also suffered a muscle injury in that game last month and has not played since.
However, the report indicates it is his valuation which may prevent the club from extending his stay in Istanbul.
‘The 28-year-old is too expensive for the Turkish club due to his £75,000-a-week wages, in addition to the fee required to sign him,’ it states.
‘Moses' contract with Chelsea expires in 2021 and it will leave the player available to leave on a cut-price deal next summer.’
Josh McEachran on trial in Birmingham
The Birmingham Mail reports former Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran has gone on trial at Championship side Birmingham City as he seeks a new club after leaving Brentford at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old, who is a free agent after his departure from Griffin Park, played 68 minutes for Birmingham’s development squad in their match against Bristol City on Monday.
The elder brother of Academy prospect George McEachran, Josh was Chelsea’s Young Player of the Year in 2010/11 and played 22 senior matches for the club before he left to join Brentford in 2015.
