Tomori and Abraham in BBC’s Team of the Week

Garth Crooks has named Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham in the BBC’s Team of the Week after their goal-scoring performances in the 5-2 win over Wolves on Saturday.

Tomori was included in the weekly list for the first time after he marked his second start for the Blues with a spectacular long-range strike to open the scoring at Molineux.

‘What a goal. What's more he meant it. This performance by this youngster was outstanding and his goal only tells half the story,’ said Crooks of the 21-year-old.

‘Playing in a back three, he was amazing. Tomori's confidence to take the ball into the danger area and provide the assist for Tammy Abraham suggest this lad is no ordinary defender. This is someone I intend keeping my eye on.’

Meanwhile, Abraham was selected by Crooks for the second time in under a month after he became the youngest Chelsea player to score a Premier League hat-trick.

‘His first goal against Wolves was alright, his second better and his third outstanding,’ said the former England forward.

‘I said recently said that Frank Lampard had seen something in this kid and we are clearly starting to see the same thing.

‘It's been a long time since I've seen an English centre forward of Abraham's size and stature move around the pitch so comfortably and be so competent on the ball.’

Abraham wants FIFA 20 stats upgrade

After bagging his treble at Wolves to move to the top of the Premier League Golden Boot standings with seven goals, Tammy Abraham took to Twitter to request an upgrade on his FIFA 20 rating.

The young striker was given an overall rating of 76 for the latest version of the video game, which is to be released later this month, with ratings of 74 for pace and shooting, 69 for dribbling and 57 for passing.

The 21-year-old was especially peeved with his pace rating after being given 82 last season, a point which he made quite clear in his post.

‘@EASPORTSFIFA expecting an increase in pace please,’ he wrote.

Accompanying his post is an image of Pedro holding up a card with Abraham’s current FIFA 20 stats rating and Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta holding a similar card with some upgraded stats written in including an overall rating of 81 and ratings of 83 for pace, 78 for shooting and 75 for passing and dribbling.

Conte and Sarri in war of words

Football Italia reports former Chelsea head coaches Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte are engaged in a war of words after Sarri tried to explain Juventus’ goalless draw at Fiorentina on Saturday.

The eight-time defending champions surprisingly dropped points for the first time in Serie A this season against the club from Florence, who are winless in their last 17 league games.

Adding to the woes of Juventus were injuries suffered by Douglas Costa and Miralem Pjanic which forced the pair off before half-time.

‘Playing in mid-afternoon in Florence when it's realistically still summer is tough for everyone,’ said Sarri, who left Chelsea to take charge of Juventus during the summer.

‘We had difficulty on a purely technical level and I am confident a team with less personality would've lost. That is the positive and certainly a valuable quality to have a team that can fight it out for a point even when not in great shape.’

However, Sarri’s explanation didn’t hold weight with Inter Milan manager Conte, who led the Bianconeri to three consecutive Serie A titles before his spell at Chelsea.

‘I don’t want to say anything, otherwise we’ll have to start comparing balance sheets and financial resources,’ said Conte of the former Napoli coach, who had a career in banking before he became a full-time football coach.

‘Someone ought to calm down, as he’s on the powerful side now.’
