What followed has been a 3-2 win at Norwich, a 5-2 victory at Wolves and now beating Southampton 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, and Mason Mount has scored in them all. Add in the win at Lille and our away form since losing at Old Trafford has been exemplary.‘We look back at that [Man United] game and to lose 4-0 is not good but we took a lot of positives from the game and we did not think it was a 4-0,’ reckons Mount, speaking after the latest win.‘We bounced back and now we are in fifth position and we just need to keep working hard and hopefully we can get the three points every game.‘We have been playing well and having that big result in the Champions League, that really helped us out.‘It has been going well away from home. There are little things we can work on, like conceding [against Southampton] to go 2-1 which made it a tough period of the game, so there are things we can work on but away from home we have been very good.’

Mount rifled in the goal that put us 2-0 up at St Mary’s and he says he always believed he would be able to score goals at Premier League level, having done so 11 times in the Championship last season when on loan at Derby.‘You always have to have that confidence in yourself. I probably did not think it would go this well at the start, to have four goals, so I am delighted but I have to say thanks to my team-mates and we have been working so hard. You can see every game how much it means to us to want to win and to work hard for the manager and the fans, so it has been good.‘We have such a strong squad and there is so much competition so you have always to stay at the top of your game and work hard every day in training if you want to get into the team.’The next match is at home, against Newcastle United, but we have to wait two weeks for that with international football now taking over, which means off to England for Mount and an increasing number of his team-mates.

‘There are a lot of young boys around us that we have played with for a very long time and now making that step into the senior team so I am so happy for Tammy and for Fik [Fikayo Tomori], and Ross as well, us four getting into the England squad is a massive achievement so I am looking forward to the international break.‘The last international break, the game before it we drew 2-2 and it was not a good feeling going into it but now we have the good feeling of winning three points.’Read: Lampard on the Southampton win
