It was one we passed comfortably, with a 4-2 win at Turf Moor, and afterwards, Fikayo Tomori, beginning his sixth game in a row, gave his verdict on the performance.‘We were on a streak of winning five games when we played at Ajax in the Champions League and that was more a thinking game,’ he began.‘The Champions League is obviously a difficult competition and then to come away to a place like Burnley is difficult and sometimes you can slip up, but we just wanted to stay focused and we know the threats they posed. I think we dealt with them well.‘The key to our form is the hard work on the training pitch. Everyone is really focused and we try to work hard every day and implement what the manager is trying to make us do every week. It is a lot of hard work, focus, determination and that will to win, and we have a good mix of experience and young players who are gelling together a bit more now.

‘We just want to keep playing well, we want to keep on winning games and winning is a habit.‘Further on in the season, who knows where we can end up but we are just focused on every single game as it comes. We focused on Ajax and won that, we were focused on this one at Burnley and now we are focused on Man United in the Carabao Cup.’Star of the show in attack at Burnley was hat-trick man Christian Pulisic and Tomori was pleased to see his fellow 21-year-old do so well.‘We know what Christian can do and he has had to bide his time and when he has come on in recent games he has done really well, and the manager rewarded him with a start on Saturday and to score a hat-trick, there is nothing better. I am really happy for him that he has managed to open his account and got a hat-trick as well.’

The scoreline was 4-0 with five minutes left on the clock and Tomori admits that letting in two goals after that took a little of the shine off the win, as could be seen from his reaction when Jay Rodriguez belted in Burnley’s first.‘Especially as we were controlling the game,’ he acknowledges, ‘but to be fair to him, it was a good strike. Be we wanted to see the game out, score more goals if we could and see the game out with a clean sheet and go home happy.‘A score of 4-0 looks a lot better than 4-2 and as defenders, our job it is to keep clean sheets and for the most part of the game we were looking at doing that and to concede two late on, it gave Burnley an extra bit of gusto when we should have been comfortably seeing out the game. But it is still a positive result and three points.’
