Kirby joined the Blues in 2015 and since then has played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s successes, which includes winning the 2017 Spring Series and the Double in 2017/18.

The 26-year-old made the move to Chelsea from her hometown club, Reading, where she had a hugely impressive 2014 campaign for the Royals, finishing as the division’s top scorer with 29 as they recorded a third-place finish in FA WSL 2.

Her Chelsea debut came against Birmingham when she came off the bench, and her impact was instant as she scored with a tidy chip to get off to the perfect start.

A history maker, the England international scored the first Champions League goal in the club’s history, which was a sweet strike against Glasgow City.

Upon reaching the 100 game milestone, Kirby said: ‘It’s really special for me - I think I’ve spent a long time injured so it’s nice to get that 100, but I’m more happy that we got the win, that’s the most important thing.’

Kirby netted 18 goals throughout the 2018/19 season, bringing her tally to 65 club career goals by the end of the campaign. The forward recorded her 50th goal for Chelsea in September 2018 in the Blues’ 2-0 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion.

She has also been recognised with individual honours including being named in the 2017/18 PFA Team of the Year and UEFA Champions League squad of the season. As well as picking up the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards - becoming the first player to win the female version of the latter - she was also named Chelsea Ladies' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

When it comes to personal highlights from her time as a Blue, Kirby picks out her favourite moments.

‘I have had so many great memories at Chelsea so far. Firstly signing for the club was massive for me,’ Kirby said.

‘Then winning the Double when I first joined, scoring the first Champions League goal for Chelsea and winning the FA Cup at Wembley are the main highlights for me.’

Chelsea Women manager Emma Hayes said: ‘I know what Chelsea means to Fran and she has provided the club and the fanbase some wonderful memories.

‘She’s been part of a special team that has won things and I’m proud of her for reaching that achievement and I’m sure she’ll go onto many more achievements.’
