While Jorginho is making quite the name for himself in a Chelsea shirt under Frank Lampard, our Italian international has revealed that the player he was likened to by his friends when he was younger was Gheorghe Hagi.
Their names aren’t particularly alike but their talents with a ball at their feet certainly are, with Jorginho explaining that his friends would liken him to the Romanian star when playing football in his childhood, as he exclusively revealed in our Footballing Firsts feature on The 5th Stand app.
‘Don’t laugh, but I used to be called ‘Haginho’ by my friends when I was younger!’ Jorginho told The 5th Stand app. ‘Which was after Gheorghe Hagi.’
Also in this week’s edition with our No5, we learn where Jorginho learnt his skills with the ball, what team his first football shirt belonged to and who he modelled his game on. This one is not to be missed, so make sure you have downloaded the official Chelsea app!
