A 19-man Chelsea squad have touched down in Spain ahead of our crucial Champions League group game against Valencia tomorrow evening.
At Cobham this morning, Toni Rudiger trained with the rest of the group, as did Ross Barkley, although neither were deemed fit enough to travel.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, who missed the trip to Manchester City at the weekend having returned from England international duty with a hamstring concern, was not one of the players who entered the training pitch for the start of the session.
The 19-year-old has also stayed at home, along with Marcos Alonso and long-term injury absentee Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The rest of the squad have travelled.
Our visit to the Mestalla represents an important night in Group H, with Frank Lampard’s side tied on seven points along with Valencia and Ajax with two games left to play. The Blues will secure their place in the last-16 with victory in Spain’s third-largest city due to our superior head-to-head record against the other two. A win for Valencia puts them through.
Lampard and one of his players, Tammy Abraham, will speak to the media at the Mestalla at approximately 6.30pm UK time this evening. The press conference can be viewed live and free on the 5th Stand app and via this website.
The boss is likely to be asked about his travelling squad and any other injury concerns, as well as bouncing back from domestic defeat in a winner-takes-all European contest.
