The Blues’ Barclays Women’s Super League match against Everton at Southport FC, which was set to kick-off at 12.30pm today (Sunday), has been called off.
Emma Hayes’s squad have been in fantastic form of late, racking up nine wins on the bounce, and we were hoping to maintain our spot at the WSL table by continuing that run at Everton.
However, the game at Southport FC was initially delayed late this morning until 1pm due to a frozen pitch, which was subject to a further pitch inspection from the referee at midday.
It was during that inspection that the match officials deemed the pitch unplayable, leaving both sides frustrated, as the Toffees have also been on a good recent run in the WSL with three wins on the bounce.
Details of the rearranged fixture will be announced in due course.
Our next match is on Sunday 8 December, when we welcome Manchester City to Kingsmeadow for a top-of-the-table clash. The mouthwatering game kicks off at 12 noon and there are lots of festive matchday activities taking place.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at £9 for adults and £1 for juniors (aged under 20) and seniors (aged over 65).
