The Chelsea squad trained at Cobham this morning ahead of our crucial Champions League group decider against Lille on Tuesday night, although Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud were both absent from the session.

Frank Lampard had the rest of the squad available for the final preparations before the Frenchmen visit Stamford Bridge in the final Group H game.

The Blues need a victory to secure a place in the last-16, although a draw will also suffice if Valencia lose to Ajax in Amsterdam. In the event that we beat Lille and there is a draw in the other group game, Lampard’s side will finish as group winners.

It was a glorious winter’s morning in Surrey, with the sun shining brightly but a brisk wind in the air. Toni Rudiger joined the group once again as he continues his comeback from a pelvic injury that has kept him out of action since September. The German could be in contention to feature in the matchday squad, particularly given the fact fellow defender Tomori didn’t train with the group.

Giroud was also missing and a fitness update on the duo is likely to be provided by Lampard when he speaks to the media later this afternoon. Kurt Zouma will also be previewing the European encounter with a press conference that can be viewed live on the 5th Stand app and this website from approximately 1.30pm.
