Everything you need to know about our return to league action this weekend…
Premier League football is back in west London for the first time since Boxing Day as the Blues take on the Clarets in SW6.
When and where
The match takes place on Saturday 11 January in the traditional 3pm afternoon kick-off slot at Stamford Bridge.
Press conference info
Frank Lampard will be speaking to the media at his customary pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon from approximately 1.30pm. There will be full coverage on this website, the 5th Stand app and our official @chelseafc Twitter. Here is a look at the topics that could be on the agenda...
Lancashire rematch
The Blues were impressive in victory at Turf Moor in October in the midst of our six-game Premier League winning run and Lampard is likely to be asked for his reflections on that evening in Lancashire as we prepare to lock horns with Sean Dyche’s side once again.
Burnley are just three places and four points above the relegation zone, though they have won their past two in the league and will be hoping to take advantage of our mixed form at home in recent months.
Fitness latest
Christian Pulisic missed our FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest last weekend and the boss is sure to be asked about the American’s fitness, as well as his impact in our 4-2 win in the reverse fixture when he scored his first, second and third Chelsea goals.
The latest on Marcos Alonso’s injury situation is also likely to be sought from the assembled journalists at Cobham, as well as any other fitness concerns that may have arisen.
January window update
Speculation has been rife since the January transfer window opened on New Year’s Day and Lampard will certainly be asked to provide an update on his plans for incomings and outgoings this month.
Danny Drinkwater completed a loan move to Aston Villa earlier in the week, while media reports have linked us with a number of potential signings, including Atalanta left-back Robins Gosens, Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare and Brighton defender Ben White.
Time to work
The Blues are currently benefiting from consecutive midweeks free of match action for the first time since the November international break so Lampard may be questioned on how he is planning to use that time following a busy festive period.
After Saturday’s Burnley assignment, we have another seven days until our next action away at Newcastle, which is valuable time to work on the training pitch at Cobham and reset goals for the remainder of the campaign.
Latest Chelsea team news
Lampard reported in the aftermath of the Forest victory that Pulisic had picked up an injury on the day before the cup tie, while Alonso was another absentee with an ongoing muscle injury.
A number of our established first-teamers were given the weekend off, including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante and Kurt Zouma, while Cesar Azpilicueta and Willian were unused substitutes.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has returned to the grass as his rehabilitation from a long-term Achilles injury continues but the 23-year-old remains some way off match fitness.
Latest Burnley team news
Chris Wood and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are both doubtful for the visitors after withdrawing from their 4-2 FA Cup win against Peterborough United last weekend with hamstring injuries.
Ben Gibson, Aaron Lennon and Ashley Barnes are all reported to be facing late fitness tests, though former Chelsea Academy midfielder Jack Cork is in line to start.
How to listen live
Chelsea TV will be providing live audio commentary on the 5th Stand app and this website, plus there will also be live text commentary on both those platforms.
How to watch live
There will be no live TV coverage in the UK, although highlights will be available on the 5th Stand app from two hours after the final whistle.
