Fikayo Tomori is the next to answer questions in our feature where players make selections based on their past, their recent choices and what crops up time and time again. He tells us about the first film he watched and a memorable driving test...
First: What was the first movie you really liked growing up?
The first film I remember going to the cinema to watch was Spy Kids in 3D, obviously because of the 3D glasses and it was kind of a new thing so I remember that.
Last: What was the last film or TV programme you watched?
I watched It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Netflix recently. It’s pretty good, a bit politically incorrect but it’s still funny!
Always: What have you watched most often in your life?
I’ve watched the whole of Prison Break twice - that’s my favourite series. Everybody Hates Chris, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Big Bang Theory. In terms of films, it’s probably The Pursuit of Happyness. I watch a lot of things over and over again.
First: What was the first football kit you ever wore?
I think it was a Thierry Henry Arsenal shirt because I loved Thierry Henry. My family were Arsenal fans so I was following that at the time. I was just more of a football fan but Henry was my idol.
Last: When was the last time you wore a football shirt of a team you weren’t playing for?
I wear friends’ shirts so I have Alex Iwobi’s from Everton, Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal or Jarred Bowen from Hull. People that I know, I wear their shirts.
Always: What is the best old football shirt you have kept?
I’ve got memorabilia from every single year I was in the Academy, whether it’s tracksuits, training tops or whatever. I also have the first-ever football shirt that I wore when I played for my Sunday league team, that’s at home as well.
First: Can you remember the first phone you owned?
It was one of the Samsung models that had the sliding bit. I got it just before I went to secondary school, around that time.
Last: What was the last app you installed on your current device?
Voloco. It’s basically an auto-tuning app which you can use to auto-tune your voice so me and my friends have just been sending videos of us singing songs to each other. This is what quarantining has got us doing!
Always: What do you spend most time on your phone doing?
Just talking to people on FaceTime and Snapchat, using Instagram. I like watching funny videos so that sort of stuff really.
First: What was the first thing you had to eat or drink this morning?
I made myself breakfast this morning so I had eggs, sausages, baked beans, toast with some orange juice and water. I can actually cook but I’m normally too lazy to do it because I think I can go out or my mum will probably bring me some food over. Now I’m inside and I have to cook, I’m finding myself a bit more now.
Last: What is the last thing you normally consume before bed?
I normally have a yoghurt. It’s not too heavy but I can still get some protein in before I go to bed.
Always: What do you reckon you eat most during the week?
Pasta, for sure!
First: When you were a child, where did you go on holiday?
I went to America and Canada a lot because we had friends and family there. We went to Nigeria when I was really young and then again when I was about 10 or 11.
Last: What is the most recent place you have visited for a break?
Dubai during the winter break – that was a good holiday.
Always: Where do you go to most often?
I tend to vary it up quite a lot. The last few summers I haven’t really had much time off so it’s been places like Spain and Dubai, just for a bit of sun and to get away for a bit.
First: What was the first video game you bought?
It would definitely have been FIFA when I had a PlayStation One. I’m pretty sure I had Need for Speed and Crash Bandicoot as well. That was back in the day so when my cousins used to come over we would play those games but I think the first game I actually bought for myself was FIFA.
Last: What was the last video game you played?
It was FIFA a few months but I don’t really play video games that much anymore.
Always: Who do you play with?
I like a little Career Mode. I’m not really on it enough to play with my friends but when we are online at the same time they just say ‘go away, this is not for you’ because I’m not as good as them.
First: Did you pass your driving test first time?
No, second time. I actually failed before I even got on the road but the instructor still made me do the whole test. Basically when I pulled out of the test centre, there were parked cars close to the exit so I had to pull out slowly because I couldn’t see.
As I was about to pull out into the road, this van has just come zooming past and the instructor had to do an emergency stop – obviously I would have done it myself but the fact he got there first meant it was an automatic fail.
Last: When was the last time you used public transport?
It was probably when Ola Aina and I used to take the train back from Hull when we were on loan up there.
Always: What is the music you always listen to in the car?
I love French music. Naza, KeBlack, those kind of people.
