The new contract caps a fantastic 2019/20 season for the forward, who played a crucial part in our Double-winning season, finishing as Chelsea’s top scorer with 21 goals in 24 outings.Her pace, power and finishing ability were hallmarks of her outstanding attacking play last term and the 26-year-old is understandably delighted with the news.‘It’s means a lot to me, especially being at such a great club that Chelsea is,’ England said. ‘I’ve spent a lot of time here already, so being able to extend that and hopefully kick on with what I’ve already achieved at this club is exciting.’General manager Paul Green added: ‘We’re delighted to have extended Beth’s contract, as she has been outstanding in the last 18 months, playing a big part in the team’s success.'We feel that she is now coming in to her peak as a player and look forward to seeing how she continues to develop for both club and country in the upcoming years.’

Earlier this month England’s performances throughout 2019/20 had been recognised when she was voted as the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Player of the Season. The Blues forward shared what it meant to receive the accolade, while also reflecting upon her impressive season as a whole.

‘That was a bit of a surreal moment,’ she said about receiving the Player of the Season honour. ‘I’ve worked so hard over the years and to finally get my efforts recognised was a big moment for me and for my family to see that.

‘There has been some tough competition this year, there has been a lot of great performers so it was an honour to receive that award.

‘One of the standouts for me was my first goal at Stamford Bridge, that meant a lot to me because it was the opening day in front of such a big crowd.

‘But the Continental Cup game was a phenomenal game and getting the league title was a big moment for us.

‘International wise nothing can beat playing for your country, getting that call-up and putting the shirt on. And then my first England goal, it was such a proud day for me and something I’ll take with me forever.’

Having now had a taste of silverware, England aspires to achieve more trophy success in the coming years with the Blues, with the Champions League being a top priority.

‘I’ve got my first silverware in the bank with the Conti Cup and the league so I’m now hoping to get many more trophies at this club and obviously the Champions League is one that we’re really pushing for.

‘I’m excited we’re back in it, I’m definitely going for my first Champions League goal as I’ve not had one of them yet. Hopefully this is going to be the year that we do bring that trophy home.’
