Mason Mount has been named as a FIFA 21 Next ambassador, recognising his status as one of the Premier League’s up-and-coming stars.
The FIFA Next is a curated list featuring the freshest emerging talent from across the world of football who embody the meaning of Win as One.
The midfielder has enjoyed a breakout season to remember at Stamford Bridge, having chalked up 52 appearances to his name already. That is a Chelsea record for an Academy graduate in their debut campaign.
Mount, a keen FIFA player - as we saw during lockdown when he took on his great mate Declan Rice - is a new Next ambassador alongside Phil Foden, Steven Bergwijn, Aaron Connolly and Manchester City Women’s Georgia Stanway. Today’s announcement follows the news that Kylian Mbappe will be FIFA 21’s cover star, and Erling Haaland, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Felix are new FIFA Ambassadors.

FIFA 21 is released on 9 October and Mount’s current rating of 79 will surely increase following a fine start to his Blues career. His goal and assist against Wolves in our final Premier League game took him to eight and six respectively in those two departments, and he provides great help off the ball, too. His combination of technical proficiency, desire and intelligence to lead the press from the front, and a daily attitude to train as he plays that has been praised by Lampard, are some of the reasons why he featured in more Premier League matches than any other Chelsea player this season.
He scored the first goal of the Lampard era on his Stamford Bridge debut against Leicester City and then followed it up a week later as we recorded our maiden victory of the season away at Norwich City.
That led to the youngster’s England debut in September and such has been his success on the international stage, he has played in all six of the Euro 2020 qualifiers this season.
