Chelsea FC Women is delighted to announce the appointment of Denise Reddy as assistant coach to Emma Hayes.
Reddy has joined up with Hayes and her backroom staff as preparations continue ahead of the 2020/21 season, which begins at Wembley Stadium against Manchester City in the Women’s FA Community Shield on Saturday 29 August.Having already worked closely with Hayes at National Women’s Soccer League side Chicago Red Stars from 2008 to 2010, Reddy is excited to have the opportunity to coach with the Chelsea boss again.'I’m honoured to be able to have this opportunity to work at such a prestigious club with world-class players,' Reddy said. 'I’m also really looking forward to working with Emma again.‘I’m hoping to bring some of my experience and expertise to this top club and I can’t wait for the season to get started!’After graduating with a degree in Exercise Science, Reddy enjoyed a professional playing career in Sweden at Malmö FF Dam, now known as FC Rosengard, which lasted 11 years before hanging her boots up to pursue a coaching career.
The American is a UEFA Pro-Licence coach and comes with a wealth of experience having coached professionally in the NWSL and Europe for over a decade. After her time in Chicago as Hayes’ assistant, Reddy returned to Scandinavia where she coached at Linkopings and Vittsjo GIK in Sweden and at Danish side B93/HIK/Skjold.Reddy then headed back to the United States where she had spells at NWSL outfits Washington Spirit as the assistant and at Sky Blue FC as head coach. She has most recently been working as the assistant coach for the U.S Under-20 women’s national team.Manager Hayes said on the appointment: ‘I’ve worked with Denise in Chicago and she is an outstanding technical coach with huge experience in the women’s game.‘Her knowledge is second to none and she will improve the players daily with her work on the training pitch.’Welcome to Chelsea, Denise!
