Uwakwe will spend the 2020/21 campaign at the Crown Ground following a season in which he featured 11 times for our development squad as they were crowned Premier League 2 champions. It will be his first taste of senior football.

The 20-year-old joined our Academy at the age of eight and has developed into an attacking midfield player who can operate centrally or from wide areas. He won back-to-back FA Youth Cups, scoring in both legs of the 2018 semi-final, and helped our youngsters claim a clean sweep of Under-18 honours in 2016/17.

On the international stage, he has represented England up to the Under-18 age group and won the Toulon Tournament with the Young Lions in 2017.

Accrington finished 17th in League One last season and begin the new term at home to Peterborough United this weekend.
