Chelsea have never met Rennes in European competition. They will be the 56th different side we have met in the Champions League and the sixth from France.

Our most recent meeting against a Ligue 1 side was against Lille in last season's Champions League group stage, when we won home and away. Tammy Abraham scored in both games with Cesar Azpilicueta getting the winner in the second game at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are looking to extend our unbeaten run to seven games since we were eliminated on penalties to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Our only defeat in 90 minutes this season (11 games) was against Liverpool when we played the last 50 minutes with 10 men.

Wednesday will be our 99th game in the group stage of the Champions League and we need one point to reach 200 in the 17 seasons we have been in the competition (excluding the second group stage in 1999/2000).

Frank Lampard’s side are unbeaten in seven Champions League group matches since our home defeat to Valencia on matchday one last season (four wins, three defeats).
