The Blues return to Women’s Super League action tomorrow following a two-week international break and Emma Hayes’ side go into the fixture in fine form having won four of our six league games.

Our visitors have managed just the one league victory this season but Ji says the Blues will need to be at our best to take all three points.

She said: ‘West Ham are always a tough side to play against. We know that we need to be at our best to play against them.

‘I don’t think past track records count as each game is different. You have to take each game as it comes. We’ll continue to work on those records all the time.

Tomorrow afternoon’s fixture, which will be aired on the BBC Red Button from 12.20pm, will see the return of fans at Kingsmeadow for the first time since February and Ji is hoping she and her team-mates can give our Blues fans something to cheer about.

She added: ‘I’m delighted to be able to have fans back at Kingsmeadow during these difficult times. I hope that we can help spread some joy to our fans.

‘When we’ve been playing without fans, it feels like we’ve been playing practice matches.

‘We missed our fans a lot. I feel much more comfortable when the fans are there behind us and cheering us on.’

This game against the Hammers will be the first of five games in December and this week will see the Blues return to Champions League action.

Chelsea will travel to Portugal to face Benfica for the first leg of our round of 32 tie on Wednesday before the return leg at Kingsmeadow a week later and Ji has set her sights on a successful European campaign.

‘I’m pleased to be back playing in the Champions League. It is one of my biggest dreams to play in a Champions League final and I believe our team has the quality and strength to go all the way.’
