Gallas labels Ziyech signing of the summer

Former Blue William Gallas has been impressed by Hakim Ziyech since he arrived from Ajax and believes he has been the signing of the summer.

The Frenchman is among those who have been impressed by the Moroccan who moved to Stamford Bridge with other high-profile attackers like Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

‘I like Ziyech,’ he said to Ladbrokes. ‘I think he is a great addition to the Chelsea squad and probably say he was their signing of the summer.’

The 27-year-old’s performances have lived up to his nickname ‘the Wizard’ as he unlocks defences with his left-footed crosses into the box. He has also linked well with young right-back Reece James, causing Frank Lampard’s men to be a big threat on the right.

The quality he possesses to cut in from the right-hand side and use his left foot allows Gallas to compare him to another Premier League talisman.

‘He is a very clever player. He is much like Riyad Mahrez,’ he said. ‘When you play against a team who are difficult to break, someone like Ziyech is a great asset to have to make the difference.

Gilmour backs Rangers to clinch title

Billy Gilmour has backed Rangers to win their first Scottish title in nine years after their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Gilmour left Rangers for Chelsea after his 16th birthday but admits he still supports the club.

The Scotsman spoke on UMM in a relaxed interview about how his career has progressed since the move after being with the first team for over a year.

‘I don’t regret my decision of coming to Chelsea. Every minute I’ve been here, I’ve loved it,’ he said.

‘I’m still a Rangers fan. I watch Rangers play and they’re doing well just now.’

The midfielder’s breakthrough last season made the teenager a fan favourite after impressive performances against Liverpool and Andy Robertson who was also supportive during his injury.

‘I played against him at the Bridge. He spoke to me after the game just to say well done and stuff,’ Gilmour said.

‘He’s also texted me a lot to make sure that I’m okay throughout my injury.’

The 19-year-old was out for several months with a knee injury he suffered last season and is slowly making progress to get back into the team and continue where he left off.

Rudiger provides hospitals with pizza

Blues defender Antonio Rudiger has attempted to lift spirits in German hospitals by buying pizza for over 420 medical staff.

The centre-back has made this gesture to thank all medical workers for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Goal, he explained why it’s so important to keep praising those who have sacrificed for others.

‘It’s tragic how the situations in the Coronavirus intensive care units have worsened again in recent weeks,’ he said.

‘The people who work there do an incredible job. For me, they are all men and women of honour.’

The German has made one appearance for the Blues this season but while he continues to fight for a place in a highly competitive squad he will try and help those in need.

‘With this action, I would like to say thank you above all, thank you to the many hospital employees who put themselves and their health on the back burner to help other people,’ the centre-back said.

‘For me, it was all about the gesture. You can’t thank them often enough. However, you shouldn’t just thank the staff this year, but every year.’
