Trio of Blues ranked as most valuable players
Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Mason Mount have all ranked in the top 20 of the world’s most valuable players.
This is according to a report from the CIES Football Observatory which is a research group within the International Centre for Sports Studies.
The algorithm uses performance, age and contract length and the clubs and country they represent to determine who appears on the list.
Havertz rounded up the top 10 and was valued at an estimated £123 million. The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer and has four goals and five assists in all competitions.
Just behind him is his fellow countryman Werner who is valued at an estimated £122 million. Since his arrival he has contributed to a large part of the Blues’ goals this season, netting eight times and picking up six assists in all competitions.
Mount, who had a phenomenal debut season in the Premier League, just fell below the £100 million mark with the estimated value of £99 million.
Giroud feels he is underrated
Olivier Giroud believes he has been overlooked throughout his career because of his style of play.
Speaking on Stadium Astro, the Frenchman discussed how even though he has produced the numbers he still finds himself facing criticism from the outside.
‘There is nobody who will be praised by everybody. It’s part of football, it's part of the game.
‘Maybe sometimes I am underrated but the most important thing is the numbers. For a striker that is what matters. As long as I am efficient for the team and Les Bleus and making my family proud, the rest I concede.’
The number nine has been competing for his position in the team with Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner but when called upon, Giroud has done a good job in contributing for the team. The former Arsenal striker has also been enjoying working under Frank Lampard.
‘It’s nice to have a young manager,’ the World Cup winner said.
‘He is still learning through his career but has already got a lot of qualities to manage a team. He has got good ideas.
‘It’s always nice to see a manager who was a big player and who won a lot of things and can help you to improve.’
Livramento tipped as breakthrough star
Tino Livramento has been tipped as the next breakthrough star to come out of Cobham.
The right-back has impressed plenty of onlookers in his Premier League 2 performances and The Athletic believe he is the next player that will burst onto the Premier League scene in 2021.
The Academy has produced a gold mine of right-backs throughout the years and Livramento looks like the next in line to take the world by storm with his attacking attributes.
The Englishman has been at Chelsea since the Under-9 level and has collected 20 England caps from the Under-16s to Under-19s.
Livramento has recently trained with the Chelsea first team and continues to impress in the youth ranks with his 13 assists and three goals this season.
With Reece James managing some injury issues, Sunday’s FA Cup fixture against Morecambe could be an opportunity for Livramento to get some first-team minutes.
