Jack Wakely will spend the rest of the current season with Brighton's Under-23s.
Wakely (pictured top) has progressed through the age groups at Chelsea's Academy since joining as an Under-9 and developed into a veratile defender. In 2017/18 he made 16 outings for Jody Morris's youth team as they claimed a clean sweep of four trophies in his first year as a scholar. During last season's Premier League 2 title-winning campaign, Wakely made 18 appearances before signing a year's contract extention and playing five times for Andy Myers' development squad this term.
Having joined Basingstoke in the 2019 winter window and featuring 15 times before the end of that season, the new move to Brighton will be the 20-year-old's second temporary spell away from the club. The Seagulls finished third in the PL2 table last season and currently occupy 10th spot.
Malik Mothersille has moved on loan to Derby County to be part of their academy squad. The 17-year-old forward, who can play in several positions in attack, has appeared for Chelsea’s youth team this season and scored his first goal in the Under-17 Premier League Cup in October.
