Chelsea FC Women return to league action this afternoon as we face Brighton & Hove Albion at Kingsmeadow and Hannah Blundell hopes the Blues can continue our fine run of form.

Chelsea go into today’s 2pm kick-off looking to secure our seventh straight league victory and maintain our position at the top of the FA Barclays Women’s Super League.

This game is being streamed live on the 5th Stand app, the official Chelsea website, Chelsea Women’s Facebook page and our official YouTube channel. Please note geographical restrictions apply.

Since our 1-0 away win at Brighton in December, today’s visitors have lost three of their last four fixtures but Blundell expects a difficult encounter with Hope Powell’s side.

She said: ‘When we play them, it’s always a tough game and they are a very organised team.

‘Hope [Powell] makes sure defensively they are very hard to break down so we will have to make sure we are on our "A game".

‘We will have to make sure we are patient when we’ve got the ball, make sure we aren’t forcing it and hopefully our quality will shine through.

‘I’m expecting it to be a tough game regardless of their results. I think it will be hard but with the quality we have in our team, hopefully we can come away with a result and a good performance as well.'

The Blues currently sit at the top of the league standings on level points with Manchester United but with one game in hand over Casey Stoney’s side and Blundell has highlighted the importance of focusing on ourselves as the title race continues.

‘Ultimately, only we can control what we do and we can’t control what the other teams are doing,' she said.

‘We have to focus on ourselves and as long as we are picking up three points that’s all we can do and that would of course keep us at the top of the table.

‘We’ve obviously got to take it game by game and games are now coming thick and fast which is of course is a good thing because you want to be playing games all the time.

‘We have to make sure we don’t get complacent, keep training hard and keep performing when the games come along.

‘All we can do is concentrate on ourselves, making sure we are keeping our own standards high and performing the best we can do when we come to games.’

Blundell has recently been side-lined with an injury, but the defender is now back to full fitness and looking forward to contributing to the team.

‘When I get the chances to get on the pitch I have to make sure I take them,’ Blundell said. ‘I want to make sure I’m performing well and helping the team as much as I can.

‘We have to make sure we are continuing to win, and so I want to make sure I’m contributing to help the team hopefully win four trophies come the end of the season.’
