Zecira Musovic says she is proud and honoured after making her debut in Chelsea FC Women’s 2-0 victory against West Ham United on Sunday.
Emma Hayes handed Musovic her first start for the Blues and the Swedish international produced a solid performance and helped her side earn our fifth consecutive clean sheet on the road in the Women’s Super League.
Goals from Sam Kerr and Bethany England proved the difference in Sunday’s London Derby and Musovic was delighted to get her Blues career off to a winning start.
Speaking at full-time, she said: ‘It was a really happy day for me. I’m proud to have made it to this stage and to have made my debut for Chelsea.
‘It is a big honour to be representing one of the biggest clubs in the world and to be playing with the best players in the world.
‘I’m really happy and proud to officially be a part of the Chelsea family.’
Zecira revealed that Blues boss Hayes told her she would be starting on Saturday and the Sweden international says players and staff helped her to be fully prepared ahead of making her debut against the Hammers.
She said: ‘I found out I would be starting before training on Saturday, but I felt confident.
‘I have been putting the work in and I have good people around me who help me with everything. I felt well prepared for this game, so it was easy for me.
‘The first game is always a special one. I’m happy to have kept a clean sheet but it’s easy when you have those players in front of you.’
Musovic and her Blues teammates will now prepare for our Champions League round of 16 second leg tie against Atletico Madrid.
The fixtured will be staged in Monza, Italy due to travel restrictions and Musovic hopes the Blues to follow up our first leg 2-0 victory with another strong team performance on Wednesday afternoon.
She added: ‘I’m really looking forward to it. The game at Kingsmeadow, we played with 10 players and we won the game 2-0. It was an amazing team effort.
‘I can’t wait to see how we perform with 11 players on the field and hopefully we can show everyone just how good we are.’
