The nominations have been announced for the London Football Awards, an annual event celebrating the best football talent in the capital, held in association with the Willow Foundation.

Mount, a product of the club’s youth academy, is among the five contenders for the prestigious Premier League Player of the Year accolade. He is up against Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

The 22-year-old midfielder has played 38 times for the Blues this campaign and will be looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow Cobham graduate Tammy Abraham, who was awarded the prize last year.

In the women’s category, Fran Kirby and Pernille Harder make the shortlist, alongside Arsenal trio Vivianne Miedema, Jennifer Beattie and Leah Williamson. Kirby was sensational in our recent Continental League Cup triumph, playing a part in all six goals as we thumped Bristol City 6-0 in the final.

Harder, meanwhile, has had a huge impact since her summer signing from Wolfsburg and was recently named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.

Hayes, who lifted her eighth major trophy as Blues boss at the weekend, is in the running once again for the Manager of the Year award. She lost out to Brentford’s Thomas Frank last year and will have to fight off competition for the Dane once again this term, along with David Moyes, Scott Parker and Roy Hodgson.

Chelsea’s campaign with UK charity Refuge is also recognised in the Community Project of the Year award. The club joined forces with Refuge a year ago to raise awareness and valuable funds to support women and children experiencing domestic abuse during the Covid-19 pandemic. With Chelsea FC and our owner Mr. Roman Abramovich matching supporter donations, in addition to the prize money from the 2019/20 Women’s Super League, over £500,000 was raised.

Mount features again in the Young Player of the Year category alongside Reece James, while Niamh Charles is shortlisted for the first-ever Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

Elsewhere, Edouard Mendy’s excellent start to life at Stamford Bridge is recognised with a nomination for London’s best goalkeeper, while Olivier Giroud is nominated in the Goal of the Season category for his sublime overhead kick against Atletico Madrid.

Now in its seventh year, the London Football Awards is run in aid of Willow, the national charity set up by Bob Wilson and his wife Megs to support seriously ill 16- to 40-year-olds in fulfilling uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. The event celebrates the very best of London’s football and honours all aspects of the game.

The shortlist of nominees was agreed upon by an independent panel of judges. The 2021 awards ceremony will take place virtually on 27 April.
