An entertaining game between Chelsea and Manchester City provided plenty of talking points from yesterday's Premier League 2 fixture. Andy Myers was left happy with his team's performance and believes a point each was fair at the final whistle.

The result leaves our development squad in fifth place as we head into the international break with six games left of the league season.

Speaking at full-time, boss Myers praised each team’s performance.

‘Firstly, I have to say there were two teams out who were technically, physically and tactically at their best, and had to be – both teams were set up with mutual respect for each other and played some good football, ' he told the official Chelsea website.

‘The way we came back from being 2-1 down is a credit to them and some may see it as two points lost, but I’d argue that a draw is a fair result taking all into consideration.’

Thierno Ballo opened the scoring after 14 minutes but City’s Liam Delap equalised four minutes later. There were always going to be goals with two of the league's highest scorers facing each other, but in the end both teams had to settle for just the two each.

‘Goals change games and that was clear to see out there,' added Myers. 'There were chances missed by us at the beginning of the game and throughout, and that’s probably been the difference between us and City this season. We created as many if not more chances today, but they’ve put their few away and we haven’t and it was the tail of the game.

‘Ballo’s goal was good quality and we were a little unfortunate to concede in the way we did but it seems to be the story of our season. It’s been a frustrating passage since Christmas, but the players have been working hard to improve and I have to give them credit.’

Defender Levi Colwill, who turned into his own net to give the visitors the lead, found the right net a minute from time to secure a point. Myers, pleased with his team’s showing, is also glad that there was some sort of reward at full-time, even if there could have been more.

'Everybody was motivated to get back into the game towards the end. All the players were fired up and we’ve been like this for a while now,' he said. 'Levi [Colwill] showed the sort of mentality we teach here to get one back right at the end, but it wasn’t without the help of his team. It was a performance that warranted a result and I’m pleased we got the point to show for it. Overall I am very pleased with the performance.'
