Pernille Harder described the feeling as ‘unbelievable’ after Chelsea FC Women booked our place in the Champions League semi-finals.
Harder was on the scoresheet in our first leg victory against Wolfsburg and the Denmark captain netted the opener from the penalty spot in Wednesday’s win to make it two goals in two games against her former team.
Goals from Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby rounded off an emphatic 5-1 aggregate win over last year’s finalists and Harder is delighted with the team’s performance.
Speaking in a post-match interview conducted by team-mate Erin Cuthbert, Harder said: ‘It was nice to get the first goal. It’s always important to get the first goal to get into it so it was a nice feeling.
‘It was an unbelievable feeling when we got the first, second and then also the third goal.
‘We knew then the win was coming home, and it was an amazing effort from the whole team today. We fought throughout the whole game, ran a lot of kilometres. I think today was deserved for sure.'
The Blues will now face another German opponent in Bayern Munich in the last four of the competition after the former club of Chelsea midfielder Melanie Leupolz beat Rosengard over two legs.
Chelsea will be the away team for the opening leg of the semi-final on 24/25 April, with the home leg taking place the following weekend and Harder believes the Blues can beat anyone when we are firing on all cylinders.
‘I feel confident,’ admitted Harder. ‘When we are there 100 per cent on the pitch, we can compete and beat who we want to beat.
‘We have so much talent and when we get it all out, it’s great.’
