Mason Mount, Fran Kirby, Sam Kerr, Ann-Katrin Berger and Niamh Charles have received nominations for the Professional Footballers’ Association end-of-season awards.

The annual PFA prizes are voted for by players with five Blues earning recognition in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Mount, who yesterday was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, is shortlisted for the Men’s PFA Young Player of the Year award following a superb season at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old made more league appearances for Chelsea than any other player this season, missing just two games in that competition throughout the campaign, and was involved in 11 Premier League goals, scoring six and setting up another five for his team-mates.

Meanwhile Kirby, Kerr and Berger are up for the Women’s PFA Player of the Year prize following a sensational campaign for Chelsea Women.

After missing large periods of the 2019/20 campaign due to illness, Kirby returned to her best and her efforts have already been recognised, having recently been awarded the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Association Women’s Footballer of the Year.

Kirby, Chelsea Women’s all-time leading goalscorer, netted 16 times in 18 appearances and provided 11 assists in the WSL. She also finished as our Champions League top goalscorer with six goals in nine appearances.

Kerr and regularly combined to devastating effect and the Australian has been recognised having finished as the WSL top scorer with 21 goals, with her predatory instincts in the box as well as her link-up play and vision earning plenty of plaudits.

Berger meanwhile won the WSL Golden Glove award after keeping 12 clean sheets, and her save to deny Lauren Hemp in our top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City in April was a title-winning moment.

The other nominee comes in the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year category and is just reward for Charles after a fantastic first season at Chelsea. She made 29 appearances, scoring three goals, and her performances earned her a maiden England senior call-up and a spot in the Team GB squad for this year’s Olympic Games.

The winners will be announced on Sunday evening.
