Blues linked with Isak

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

According to AS, the Swedish international is on the shortlist of potential strikers to sign in the summer and could be an alternative for the other top transfer targets.

The Blues have been heavily linked with Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in the past months. However, Isak’s performances at the Euros are catching the attention of big clubs in Europe.

The 21-year-old was also very influential in the season just gone for Real Sociedad, scoring 17 goals in 44 games in all competitions.

The Blues are not the only English club that has shown interest in Isak, with Arsenal also reportedly enquiring about the Swede.

If the Blues are to go for the promising striker, his past relationship with our German boss Thomas Tuchel could be an advantage. The two worked together at Borussia Dortmund in the second half of the 2016/17 season.

Vieira backs Gilmour

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has labelled Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour as ‘one for the future’.

Speaking on ITV, the former France midfielder was in awe of the Scot’s performance against England at Wembley on Friday night.

‘I think he had a terrific game,’ Vieira said. ‘His team-mates aren’t scared to give him the ball because they know how good he is.

‘He’s not quite physical or really strong. But his personality allowed him to get on the ball and make the game from the back.’

According to stats company Squawka, the 20-year-old made more recoveries than any other player and completed the most passes for Scotland.

‘He came into a cup game against Liverpool and was brilliant,’ Gary Neville added.

‘His temperament is fantastic, he accepts the ball and watching those clips, it’s a sobering experience for England.’

Cascarino praises Havertz

Tony Cascarino has praised Kai Havertz for his performance in Germany’s 4-2 win against Portugal on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on TalkSport, the former Blue hailed our Champions League winner for his impact in Joachim Low’s side.

‘Havertz is a special player,’ Cascarino said. ‘He is growing in stature all the time. He did it at the end of the season for Chelsea.’

The 22-year-old was heavily involved in the two own goals scored by Portugal, causing trouble in the box.

Havertz later got a goal of his own, becoming Germany’s youngest ever goalscorer in any major competition since 2010.

‘Playing the game yesterday, he’s infectious in the way he plays,’ Cascarino added. ‘He’s a lot quicker than people give him credit for.

‘When he gets going, he can move.’
