With the Barclay’s Women’s Super League fixtures announced, we take a look at some of the Blues upcoming matches ahead of the season launch in September.

Chelsea Women will begin our Barclays FA WSL title defence with a mouth-watering clash against London rivals Arsenal.

The Blues will travel to Meadow Park on the opening day of the 2021/22 campaign to take on new Gunners boss Jonas Eidevall and his Arsenal side.

The date of the fixture is yet to be confirmed but will take place on the first weekend of September (3/4/5 September).

Alongside our WSL title defence, the Blues are still to play the quarter-finals of last season’s FA Cup after a 3-0 victory against Everton in the fifth round. The competition was temporarily postponed due to the pandemic. Once the 2020/21 tournament wraps, Emma Hayes’s side will also be involved in this season’s FA Cup competition next year.

Chelsea will hope to clinch a third successive Continental League Cup and will also be looking to go one step further in the Champions League having made the final for the first time in our history last season.

Chelsea to welcome fans back to Kingsmeadow for clash against the Toffees

We look forward to welcoming our fans back to Kingsmeadow for our first home game of the season against Everton.

Chelsea will face an Everton side who have strengthened their squad with a host of new signings.

The last time the two sides met in the WSL was back in March when goals from Fran Kirby, Pernille Harder and Melanie Leupolz secured a 3-0 victory on Merseyside.

Chelsea will be hoping for more of the same when we face the Toffees on 10/11/12 September.

September to end with away fixture against Manchester United

Chelsea opened our 2020/21 campaign with a 1-1 draw away at Manchester United and the Blues face another early visit to Manchester for our third fixture of the new season.

Hayes’s squad will head up north for our second away game of the WSL campaign to face the Red Devils on 24/25/26 September.

Sam Kerr netted in last season’s 1-1 draw on the opening day of the 2020/21 season, but it was Chelsea who got the upper hand over the Manchester side with a 2-1 victory at Kingsmeadow in January.

Harder opened the scoring before Chelsea’s all-time leading goal scorer Kirby netted the winner to give Chelsea all three points.

Chelsea to host WSL newcomers Leicester City in October

Chelsea will face Leicester City who were promoted to the WSL for the first time in their history after winning the FA Women’s Championship last season.

The clash between the Blues and the Foxes is to take place on 8/9/10 October, with the reverse fixture coming up in March.

First WSL clash with Manchester City in November

The Blues will travel to Manchester again in November for our first WSL meeting of the season with Manchester City.

Chelsea took four points off City last season with a 3-1 victory at Kingsmeadow and a vital draw at the Academy Stadium.

The exact date of the contest is yet to be confirmed but will take place on 12/13/14 November and the two sides will meet again at Kingsmeadow on the first weekend in February.

Chelsea to sign off season with home game against Manchester United

Chelsea will end our 2021/22 campaign at Kingsmeadow against Manchester United with the fixture to take place on either the 7 or 8 May.

Exact fixture dates to follow once confirmed by the FA and the broadcasters.
