Blues eyeing Romero

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, according to reports in The Telegraph.

The Blues are interested in bringing in another goalkeeper to help compete with Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.

The 34-year-old was tipped to join Everton on loan before the start of last season until the move fell through.

After the departure of Willy Caballero at the end of the season, Thomas Tuchel is ready to further strengthen the goalkeeping department and Romero is apparently one of the names on the shortlist.

Alongside Everton, Juventus are also interested in the goalkeeper after he spent the whole of last season back home in South America.

The Blues brought in Mendy last season and the Senegalese shot-stopper kept 25 clean sheets in his debut campaign, including one in the Champions League final.

Merson lists Chelsea as favourites for Premier League title

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes Chelsea are one of the favourites to win the Premier League next season.

Speaking in a report that was repeated in the Metro, the Gunners legend listed four teams that he thinks could win the title next season.

‘I strongly believe this could be one of the tightest ones in recent memory,’ he said about the upcoming season.

‘Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea can all win the title.’

The Blues will be looking to continue to lift the standards after our Champions League triumph last season. The Sky Sports pundit also revealed where the Blues could further strengthen ahead of the new campaign.

‘Chelsea need a forward,’ he added. ‘I don’t know what the deal is with Erling Haaland but they need someone who can score 20 Premier League goals a season.

‘Timo Werner is a different kind of player. He’s a willing runner who works hard for the team and is very unselfish.’

Hayes on addition of women’s football on Football manager

Chelsea Women’s head coach Emma Hayes has shared her excitement on the introduction of women’s football in the popular computer game Football Manager.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Hayes who led her Chelsea side to the domestic double, also explained how data has helped her improve her profession.

‘It’s massive,’ Hayes said. ‘I think going from a data-driven approach has made me a better manager.

‘When you sit down with a player and you're saying that wasn’t good enough, they want to see why, objectively, whether that’s through film or data.’

The Chelsea coach believes the addition of women teams on Football Manager will further grow the women’s game. Haye’s spent the Euros 2020 competition working for ITV where she impressed plenty of viewers with her tactical knowledge as a co-commentator and pundit.

‘Football Manager is going to become resourceful to women’s teams,’ she added. ‘I think it’ll help the progression of the game.

‘I think women’s football can teach Football Manager about our game, some of the differences and similarities.’
