Chelsea team news
There were some familiar faces reporting back at Cobham this week, with Euro 2020 winners Jorginho and Emerson joining England trio Mason Mount, Reece James and Ben Chilwell in returning to pre-season training.
Thiago Silva, who reached the Copa America final with Brazil, and Ethan Ampadu were the two other Chelsea players returning to our Surrey training base as Tuchel’s numbers got back to full strength.
Whether those seven players will be considered for match action against Spurs remains to be seen, but it’s expected that the likes of Timo Werner, Mateo Kovacic and Toni Rudiger will be handed more pre-season minutes.
Trevoh Chalobah, who started Sunday’s win over the Gunners, will hope for another chance to impress, while the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic will all surely feature at some stage.
The opposition
Nuno Espirito Santo is in the early days of his stewardship of Tottenham, after being appointed head coach earlier this summer.
The former Wolves boss has already made a couple of astute additions to his squad this pre-season, with the highly-rated Byran Gil arriving from Sevilla – with Erik Lamela going the other way as part of the transfer - and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollina arriving on loan from Atalanta.
The former Aston Villa keeper could line-up against the Blues at Stamford Bridge, although Gil is currently with Spain at the Olympics in Tokyo so won’t feature. England captain Harry Kane is unlikely to be involved, after reports he did not return to pre-season training earlier this week.

The Mind Series
Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are playing each other as part of The Mind Series, raising money and awareness for Mind and each club’s respective foundations, and supporting better mental health.
Demand for Mind’s services, including its Infoline, has increased exponentially during the pandemic, with latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics showing one in five adults experiencing symptoms of depression, compared to one in 10 prior to the pandemic.
Mind’s own survey of 16,000 people during the initial lockdown also found that two in three young people (68 per cent) and three in five adults (60 per cent) said their mental health had got worse.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are uniting with Mind to raise vital funds and use our joint global reach and platforms to promote mental health awareness as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The matchday programme for tonight's game will be available to buy from the stadium ahead of kick-off and online from the Reach Sport shop.
