Armando Broja will spend the 2021/22 season on loan in the Premier League after completing a move to Southampton.
It will be the first experience of regular top-flight football in England for the teenage striker, who has advanced through the Chelsea Academy ranks since signing at the age of nine.
His maiden loan move last term at Vitesse Arnhem was particularly impressive, with 11 goals in 34 appearances helping the Dutch side to a fourth-place finish in the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup final, in which they were beaten by Ajax.
The Albanian international finished the campaign as one of the top-scoring teenagers in Europe and was rewarded on his return to Stamford Bridge with a new five-year contract. He has been involved throughout pre-season under Thomas Tuchel, scoring against Peterborough United and Bournemouth.
Broja’s senior Blues debut came in the Premier League in our final game before the Covid-19 shutdown as he came off the bench against Everton. On the international stage, he has six caps for Albania, including a start in a World Cup qualifier against England back in March.
The striker from Slough now joins the Saints, who finished 15th last season under Ralph Hassenhuttl. They open the campaign away at Everton this weekend.
