The German’s goal against Manchester City in Porto granted him an immediate place in the heart of every Chelsea supporter around the world and that gratitude to the forward was present in Belfast, as the Blues fans attending the Super Cup used Windsor Park as the perfect place to blast out a new chant for Havertz.

You may have heard it then, or even at Stamford Bridge during our 3-0 opening day Premier League victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, as the lyrics ‘Kai Havertz is the best on earth’ rang around the stadium.

It’s something that isn’t lost on Havertz and our No.29 was quick to thank the fans for their support and highlight how he can’t wait to take to the pitch against Arsenal tomorrow, with another capacity crowd expected.

‘It’s always been a dream to play in the Premier League in front of the fans and I can’t wait for Sunday,’ explained Kai, ahead of the weekend’s clash at the Emirates.

‘Last year of course it was a bit disappointing without fans there. It was still nice [to play] but football is just another game altogether with the fans there, they make the atmosphere.

‘I experienced that in the last few games and it’s just incredible to play in front of them and I’m looking forward to it.’

The Blues head into the game against our London rivals in fine form, having already beaten Palace in the Premier League and lifted the Super Cup prior to that fixture.

Havertz, who came on as a late substitute against the Eagles, will hope to start against Arsenal but acknowledges that this will be a tougher test for the Blues, despite our strong start to the season and the positive atmosphere around the club.

‘At the moment the atmosphere is very good,’ Kai explained. ‘When you start the season like we have, winning a European title and our first Premier League game, it’s very good for us.

‘It’s just the beginning though and there will be some tough challenges ahead, with Arsenal on Sunday the next one.

‘We have to keep going, we are just the hunters and we want to keep winning games. When you have a little taste of winning trophies like we have done, you want more of that. So that’s the goal for the season ahead.

‘It will be tough on Sunday and Arsenal are dangerous because they have a lot of quality players. People are saying that things aren’t going well for them at the moment but we know they have very good players and we need to take care in our approach.

'We have prepared well for this weekend and we will look to show that on Sunday.’

The boots that Havertz will wear at the Emirates on Sunday should also be recognised, with the German explaining that he will be auctioning them off – along with many other pairs of his – to help raise funds to support families near to his home in Germany, that suffered devastating floods last month.

Kai is playing his part to help out, as he explained to us here:

‘Near to my home in Germany there have been many floods,’ said Kai. ‘I talked about it a lot with my family and I know that there are a lot of families and people there that still need help, so I just want to support them and show that I’m with them and maybe to raise some money to help them because it means a lot to me and my family.

‘I think together we can solve problems like this, I can help a little bit and we can get some money and that they maybe get new clothes or housing because there are still a lot of people without anything, so we need to help them and I’m trying to do that.

‘The boot I wear on Sunday will be auctioned off and people can buy it. There are around 100 more boots that look the same, people can buy them and all the money raised will go to the people that need it.

‘I have donated some money and I hope that a lot more people in England and in Germany can help to those that need it.’
