Chelsea have been drawn to play Aston Villa at home in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Both clubs have won the competition five times, with our most recent meeting with the Villans in the League Cup back in 2006, when the Blues prevailed 4-0 at Stamford Bridge en route to winning the trophy. Frank Lampard, Andriy Shevchenko, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba got the goals in that fourth round tie.
We also won the trophy having beaten Villa in 1965, our first triumph in this competition. That was a two-legged semi-final in which Bobby Tambling's winner at Villa Park and then a George Graham goal in the second leg proved decisive.
In 1998, we met Villa at the third round stage in a game best remembered because it was the evening John Terry made his Chelsea debut, in what proved a comfortable 4-1 victory. More recently, we lost 2-1 up at Villa in the 2003/04 quarter-final.
Ties are due to be played the week commencing Monday 20 September, not long after Dean Smith's side visit Stamford Bridge in a league fixture.
