The date and time for our Carabao Cup third round fixture against Aston Villa have been announced.
The Blues were handed a home game for our first match in this season’s League Cup as we host Premier League opposition at Stamford Bridge.
It has now been confirmed that tie will be played on Wednesday 22 September, with kick off at 7.45pm, falling between two tough Premier League fixtures as we travel to Tottenham for a London derby three days earlier before welcoming Manchester City to SW6 the following weekend.
Ticket details for the game will be announced on Tuesday 31 August. Tickets will be priced at £25 for adults and £12 for juniors (under 20) and seniors (65 or over).
Chelsea and Aston Villa have both won the Carabao Cup on five previous occasions but have not met in the competition since 2006, when Frank Lampard, Andriy Shevchenko, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba all scored in a 4-0 fourth round win en route to lifting the tophy.
We first meet the Villans in the Premier League, as Dean Smith’s side visit the Bridge in that competition on 11 September.
