Thomas Tuchel has said that there is a possibility that there could be more transfer activity at Chelsea before the window shuts and has confirmed that Kurt Zouma is in talks with West Ham.
The Blues have signed Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Bettinelli so far this summer and whilst he's very happy with the make-up of his Chelsea squad, our head coach has hinted that there may be more arrivals before the end of the window while also confirming that there could be further outgoings from Stamford Bridge this month.
Tuchel sat down and spoke to the media at Cobham earlier today to preview Saturday’s trip to Liverpool and the boss confirmed that Kurt Zouma will miss the Anfield clash due to personal reasons, and not due to speculation linking him with a switch to West Ham.
‘Kurt is not with us but it’s not because of any negotiations,’ Tuchel explained at his pre-match media briefing.
‘He has some personal family issues going on and we have allowed him to travel to France to sort these out. That is why he is not with us at the moment, nothing else, and is why he won’t be involved tomorrow but I won’t lie to you, there have been some negotiations with West Ham.’
Tuchel was asked whether it was likely we could see further additions to his squad before the window closes and while remaining tight-lipped on that front, the boss did confirm that the Blues still have ‘some ideas’ with regards to new signings.
‘The transfer window is not over yet and we still have some ideas,’ added the German.
‘We have discussions and we are trying, but not all decisions are taken in terms of our squad. There are situations that we are aware of.
‘We don't need something to make me happy, absolutely not because I am very happy with the squad here, I am confident that we can be competitive this season but of course, our eyes are open to what could happen before the window closes.’
