Jorja Fox has signed her first professional contract with Chelsea Women.
Fox turned 18 today and has marked her birthday by putting pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.
A product of the Chelsea Academy, Fox made her senior debut for the Blues in a 4-0 away victory against Aston Villa last season.
Emma Hayes handed Fox her first senior start for Chelsea in a 5-0 victory over London City Lionesses in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup in April.
Upon signing her contract, Fox said: ‘This is all I’ve ever wanted. It’s been the focus of my dreams and all I’ve been working for.
‘Throughout the 10 years I’ve been at Chelsea, I’ve experienced ups and downs and I’ve sacrificed so much to achieve my goals.
‘For all the hard work to now be recognised with a contract means the world and I can’t wait to continue my development at this club, amongst the best players and staff.’
Chelsea Women general manager Paul Green added: ‘We’re absolutely delighted for Jorja to sign her first professional contract with us. Jorja is a great young player who has been at the club since she was eight years old, coming through our academy and developing through each age group.
‘This pre-season she has shown that she’s good enough to compete for a starting place in either full-back position for the first team and we look forward to seeing her progress further in the upcoming years.
‘It is important to see homegrown talent progressing into the first team squad from our academy and we hope that Jorja, Charlotte, Aggie and Emily will the first of many to come through this pathway.’
Fox is the fourth youngster to sign a professional contract with the club this summer, joining Aggie Beever-Jones, Charlotte Wardlaw and goalkeeper Emily Orman.
