Kirby’s curling effort against Everton is also up for the Goal of the Month award, while Pernille Harder’s magnificent solo goal against Manchester United has also been nominated for the prize.

It’s certainly been a successful September for Blues forward Kirby, with her effort against Manchester United bringing her to 50 WSL goals.

The No.14 also provided assists for Kerr’s two goals against United and Kirby netted a goal of the month contender in the Blues 4-0 win against Everton at Kingsmeadow. Kirby cut inside her marker in the box and curled an effort past Everton goalkeeper Sandy MacIver and into the top corner.

Kerr has started the new campaign where she left off last season and scored twice in our previous two league fixtures against Manchester United and Everton. The Australian forward also provided an assist for Kirby’s strike in the 6-1 away win at United.

It was during our victory against United that Harder produced a moment of brilliance to put Chelsea into a 2-0 lead and it’s to no surprise that her solo effort has been nominated for Goal of the Month.

The Denmark captain carried the ball from the halfway line into the box, holding off a number of United defenders before executing a delicate chipped finish past goalkeeper Mary Earps.

Other player nominees are: Remi Allen (Aston Villa), Inessa Kaagman (Brighton & Hove Albion), Beth Mead (Arsenal), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal), Shelina Zadorsky (Tottenham Hotspur).

Other goal of the month nominees are: Ona Batlle (Manchester United) v Reading, Sarah Mayling (Aston Villa) v Leicester City, Beth Mead (Arsenal) v Chelsea, Kayleigh Green (Brighton & Hove Albion) v Birmingham City, Hannah Bennison (Everton) v Birmingham City.

The awards are decided by a combination of vote from a panel and fans.
