A host of Blues helped their national teams secure victory in the recent World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
Millie Bright netted in an England victory against Latvia, Sophie Ingle scored as Wales come out on top against Estonia, while Sam Kerr was also on the scoresheet as Australia took a share of the spoils in a friendly against Brazil.
Bright, Bethany England and Fran Kirby were all involved as England recorded a 10-0 victory against Latvia.
Bright netted England’s fourth goal just after the half-hour mark when she headed home a delivery from Blues team-mate Kirby.
England and Bright completed the 90 minutes and Kirby, who was making her 50th appearance for the Lionesses, was withdrawn from the action at half-time.
Ingle captained Wales to a 4-0 victory against Estonia and the Blues midfielder added the fourth in stoppage time. Ingle received the ball in the box and provided a composed finish to complete the scoring on a successful evening for Wales.
Pernille Harder captained Denmark to a 5-1 victory against Montenegro to make it four wins out of four matches in the World Cup qualifiers.
Melanie Leupolz and Germany also continued their perfect record in the World Cup qualifiers as they secured a comfortable 7-0 win over Israel.
Aniek Nouwen helped the Netherlands secure a 2-0 victory over Belarus, while Guro Reiten’s Norway earned a 4-0 win against Belgium.
Blues striker Kerr netted her 49th goal for Australia in a 2-2 draw against Brazil. Kerr received the ball with her back to goal before turning and providing a clinical finish into the bottom corner.
The Matildas captain has now moved within one goal of equalling Tim Cahill’s record. Cahill currently holds the record for all Australia’s senior teams (male or female) with 50 goals.
Erin Cuthbert was named in Scotland’s starting XI for their friendly against Sweden, but the Blues midfielder could not prevent her side falling to a 2-0 defeat.
Magda Eriksson came into the action from the bench for Sweden with just over half-an-hour remaining.
Jessie Fleming played the 90 minutes as Canada clinched a 1-0 win over New Zealand courtesy of first-half goal from West Ham’s Adriana Leon.
Ji So-Yun captained South Korea for their second friendly against the USA but her side suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat.
Drew Spence made her debut for Jamaica as she was named in the starting XI against Costa Rica on Monday.
The midfielder was joined in the starting line-up by former Blues Jade Bailey and Rebecca Spencer, but Spence and Jamaica had to settle for a goalless draw in their friendly against Costa Rica.
The Blues will now return to camp to prepare for their clash with Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.
