Our development squad will host Crystal Palace on Saturday with kick-off at 11:30am.

Andy Myers's side are tasked with getting a result against the Eagles at Kingsmeadow this weekend in what will be an interesting test as we have never faced Palace in the new re-formatted Premier League 2 competition, which came into play in the summer of 2016.

In fact, the last time our young Blues did come up against the Eagles was in September 2012, an away fixture which saw us draw 2-2 at Selhurst Park. That game featured the likes of Nathan Ake, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Patrick Bamford, who have all gone on to carve great careers in the Premier League. On the day, defensive midfielder George Saville, now a Northern Ireland international, grabbed a brace.

The form

We go into this one off the back off a disappointing 1-1 draw with Everton last week in a game we dominated but in which we still needed a last-minute Jayden Wareham equaliser.

WIth only two losses in our last six, Myers and the coaching team will be looking to convert some of these draws into three points. This is a fixture where a win would see us leapfrog our London neighbours, which could prove pivotal come the end of the season.

One player in great goalscoring form is Bryan Fiabema and, with this game approaching, we caught up with the Norwegian forward to discuss his season so far and the upcoming match...

After five goals in seven starts, how are you feeling about your form from a personal perspective?

'Very, very happy. The target is to always score goals at any given opportunity when I am given the chance to start so to help out the team with my goalscoring is always the aim. I am happy to be doing it now consistently.'

It seems a long time from your difficulties in front of goal last season. How did you overcome that?

'It was all mental personally. I just needed to relax, take my time with my finishes and not over-think. The coaching team helped me to be calmer in front of goal and again just from a mental point of view, I had to overcome it in my head first.'

How has the season gone so far from a team perspective?

'I think we started the season tough, with a lot of results that we would not have liked. However, we are slowly turning the corner and that is because of our positive mindset. We stick together and want to make sure we are positive no matter the circumstances in the match. We need to make sure we start fast from minute one and not when we go a goal down.'

Going into this game, how do you think you can secure the win?

As a team, we just need to execute the plan that we are given and believe in it, then the result will come. For me personally, I want to isolate defenders more so that I can create more chances for myself but also create more chances for the team.'

Finally, who is your inspiration and what is your goals target for this season?

'I love Cristiano Ronaldo. He has always been my idol. I also love Kylian Mbappe, Romelu Lukaku and of course Josh King, because we are from the same country.'
