Chelsea stats

Since October 2003 we have only lost only two of our 49 Champions League group matches at Stamford Bridge, winning 34 and losing to Basel in 2013 and Valencia in 2019.

In our away game against Juventus on matchday two, we had 16 attempts at goal, the most we’ve had in a Champions League away game without scoring since Opta began recording this data in 2003/04.

Before this campaign, we last met Italian opponents in the 2017/18 Champions League group stage, when we drew 3-3 at home to Roma before a 3-0 away loss. This season’s matchday 2 defeat at Juve made it five games without a win against Serie A sides (two draws, three defeats).

The 4-1 extra-time victory against Napoli in the round of 16 second leg in our victorious 2011/12 Champions League campaign is our only win in our last 10 games against Italian opponents, home and away (three draws, six defeats).

Chelsea have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of our last 10 Champions League matches with Italian teams since a 1-0 win over Juventus in 2009.

Juventus have won their last five games in the Champions League; the longest current run in the competition, along with Bayern Munich. A victory in this game would see them secure a new club-record for consecutive wins in the European Cup/Champions League.

Juventus last faced English opposition in the 2018/19 Champions League group stage, winning 1-0 at Manchester United before losing 2-1 at home.

That victory by United is Juve's only defeat in their last 11 matches against Premier League clubs (six wins, four draws), with six wins in their last eight.

On Saturday, Juventus won their third successive game in all competitions, the last two with a clean sheet. A penalty in each half by Leonardo Bonucci against Lazio in Rome secured all three points.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side are eighth with 21 points from 13 games, 11 points behind leaders Napoli.

Juve’s squad contains four ex-Premier League players: Wojciech Szczesny, Aaron Ramsey, Danilo and Moise Kean.

Prior to this season, Massimiliano Allegri hadn’t managed or played against Chelsea in his career.
