The form

The Blues have drawn two of our group stages fixtures, against Wolfsburg and most recently 0-0 against Juventus, and secured two victories against Servette and one away to Juventus. Chelsea need to take one point from tomorrow’s match to ensure we stay top of Group A and make our way into the quarter-finals.

Wolfsburg are in third place, tied on points with Juventus and will be looking to secure the win at home to take the three points in the hope that Juventus do not win their last game in order for them to qualify.

The German side beat Servette 3-0, they lost to Juventus at home 2-0 and drew with them away. During the start of the opening matches they thrashed Servette 5-0 at home, and drew with the Blues 3-3.Wolfsburg are previous winners of this competition, lifting the trophy in consecutive 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, while also being three-time runners-up in 2016, 2018 and 2020. Last year they were knocked out by Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea Women v Wolfsburg Women head-to-head record

This will be the sixth meeting between the two teams. Our last encounter came back in October when the Blues started our Champions League journey at Kingsmeadow in the first of our group stage matches. The action-packed match was a six-goal thriller with Sam Kerr opening proceedings in the 12th minute to put Chelsea on the front foot much to the home crowds delight. However, Wolfsburg were quick to level with a strike from Jill Roord and went one further with Tabea Wassmuth’s first of the match. The visitors extended their lead in the second half with Wassmuth securing her brace but Emma Hayes’ squad dug deep and were able to stage a comeback with Bethany England taking the score to 3-2 in the 51st minute and Pernille Harder able to find the equaliser in extra-time to end the game 3-3.Prior to this season’s head-to-head, the Blues were victorious against Wolfsburg with a 5-1 win on aggregate on their run to the final in Sweden last year. Chelsea have been knocked out of the European competition by the She-Wolves on three occasions.

Next up for the Blues

Our final match for 2021 will be at Kingsmeadow this Sunday as we face West Ham in the WSL. The match kicks off at 12.15pm.
