Cole makes bold transfer suggestion

Ex-Chelsea striker Carlton Cole wants to see Arsenal frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang make the switch across London and join the Blues.

Cole believes ‘stranger things have happened’ in football, and believes the strong relationship between Thomas Tuchel and Aubameyang from their time together at Borussia Dortmund could have a strong say in any potential transfer.

Aubameyang has not featured for Arsenal since 6 December, after being stripped of the captaincy by manager Mikel Arteta.

‘If you look at it, Chelsea is in need of a striker as well,’ Cole said, reported by the Express.

‘Imagine that, you never know, stranger things have happened. It's still London, do you know what I mean?

‘I doubt that will happen, they're not going to sell or loan to their rival club.’

Aubameyang scored 79 goals in 95 games for Tuchel in Germany.

‘Look at the history,' added Cole. 'Dortmund, Tuchel, Aubameyang, they know each other and he knows what he gets out of him.

‘So I'm not saying that's going to happen. I'm saying it's a possibility because everything's a possibility in football.’

Kova's wonder-strike analysed by pundit

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer was left in awe of Mateo Kovacic’s strike against Liverpool, claiming the Croatian showed ‘unbelievable technique’.

The all-time Premier League record goalscorer, with 260 strikes to his name, certainly knew how to hit a volley in his playing career and Kovacic’s first-half thunderbolt left the Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers legend with nothing but praise on Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evening.

‘The technique that he produces. I think they [Liverpool] are quite happy that he is shooting [from] there. To get that accuracy is just unbelievable,’ Shearer said.

‘He is running backwards, the technique and everything is so difficult and he is off the deck, which makes it even more difficult,’ he added.

‘Following the ball is one of the most difficult things to do and to get that accuracy and power, is unbelievable. It was typical of the first half.’

Southampton man tips ‘bright future’ for Chelsea loanee

Jan Bednarek has heaped praise on Blues youngster Armando Broja who is currently impressing on loan at Southampton.

The Albanian has recently made a claim to remain in Ralph Hasenhuttl's side week in week out, after scoring in draws against Burnley, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

‘He’s a great player and he’s learning very quickly,’ the Poland international told the Daily Echo.

‘He had a difficult start to the season where he had to adjust and adapt to the Premier League, it’s a different intensity.’

Broja has six goals for the club and the 20-year-old is only going to get ‘better and better’, according to Bednarek.

‘He did it very well and we can see with each game he’s getting better and better and it’s a bright future in front of him,' the Saints defender added.
