Chesterfield are appearing at this stage of the FA Cup for the first time since 2014/15 when they reached the fourth round and went out to Championship side Derby. They were in League One at the time.
Since that season, the Spireites spent two more years in League One before being relegated and after just one season in League Two they dropped into the National League in 2018.
James Rowe’s side are currently top of the National League.
Chesterfield have only been beaten once in 23 games this season in all competitions, winning 15. Woking are the only side to beat Chesterfield, in September.
The Spireites have won their last three games on the road, five of their last six achieved with a clean sheet.
This is Chesterfield’s first tie against Premier League opponents since the 1996/97 FA Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough, when they lost 3-0 in a replay at Hillsborough after a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford. Burnley manager Sean Dyche played in defence for Chesterfield in those two games.
Chesterfield’s highest league position in their history was fourth in the old Second Division (second tier) in 1946/47.
England's 1966 World Cup goalkeeper Gordon Banks, Steve Ogrizovic and Kevin Davies all started their professional careers at Chesterfield.
Their 38-year-old manager James Rowe has not managed or played against Chelsea before. He’s been at the Spireites since November 2020.

Discipline
There are no suspensions
Yellow cards only count in the competition they are received. In the FA Cup, two yellow cards will result in a one match suspension. The cut-off point is the quarter-finals, so no player can miss the final through cumulative yellows.
