Panzo returns to England
Former Chelsea Academy prospect Jonathan Panzo has signed for Championship side Nottingham Forest from Dijon.
Panzo left Chelsea in 2018 for Monaco aged just 17, after coming through our Academy.
‘Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the signing of defender Jonathan Panzo on a permanent transfer from Dijon FCO for an undisclosed fee,’ a statement on the club’s official website confirms.
‘The 21-year-old becomes The Reds’ fifth signing of the January transfer window, signing a deal at The City Ground until 2025.
‘Panzo previously played under Forest Head Coach Steve Cooper, winning the FIFA Under-17 World Cup with England in 2017.
‘Panzo was also named in the Team of the Tournament as England finished runners-up in the U17 European Championships under Cooper the same year.
‘Born in London, the defender spent nine years in the youth system at Chelsea before moving to Monaco in July 2018.’
Former Blues keeper signs for Terriers
Huddersfield Town have announced the signing of former Chelsea Academy goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.
Blackman was most recently at Los Angeles FC in the MLS. The stopper joined Chelsea in 2006 and left last year after eight loan spells.
‘The 6’7” tall goalkeeper, who was a free agent after departing Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC at the end of 2021, has joined the Club on a contract running until 31 May 2022 inclusive,’ the story on the club’s website states.
‘As his registration was last with Los Angeles, the move is pending international clearance.
‘London-born Jamal is a graduate of the Chelsea Academy and was a professional at Stamford Bridge from 2012 until 2021.
'The goalkeeper has made over 150 senior appearances across the Sky Bet Championship, League One, League Two, the Swedish top division and also the MLS.
‘He has trained with Carlos Corberan’s First Team squad at Canalside for two weeks ahead of signing this contract.’
Reece's touch of class
Chelsea defender Reece James has sent Joe Edwards his best wishes after the coach departed the club to join Frank Lampard at Everton after many years of service.
Edwards has joined Frank Lampard’s backroom staff at Everton after the ex-Chelsea boss was announced yesterday.
James took to his Instagram to show his appreciation for Edwards’s contribution to his game, right form when he was a youngster at Cobham.
‘Good luck, Joe,’ the Chelsea right wing-back wrote on his Instagram story.
‘I wish you nothing but the best,’ he added. ‘You helped me in so many positive ways all the way through the academy into the first team.
‘Forever thankful.’
