Chelsea FC Women forward Pernille Harder says she wants the team's unbeaten run to continue as Emma Hayes’ side prepare to face Manchester City at Kingsmeadow.
The Blues haven’t lost a game yet in 2022 and have recently hit fine form ahead of today’s clash with Gareth Taylor’s side.
Chelsea beat Manchester United midweek to reach the final of the Continental Tyres League Cup for the third consecutive year, and Harder believes that game was the perfect way for the Blues to go into today’s fixture.
‘It was a great game on Wednesday to get some confidence before the game against City,’ Harder explained.
‘So that’s what I’m feeling. We have been playing really well in this period, we’ve had a lot of games, a lot of players out and I think the available players have really been stepping up, you saw that on Wednesday again.’
During a relentless run of fixtures since the start of the New Year, the Blues have been without a number of first team players due to injuries and participation in the Asian Cup.
‘I’m really impressed by the team and I think we just take the confidence into Sunday.‘I feel more confident for every game this year and I’m feeling good. We want to be unbeaten, we have started 2022 in the right way and we can hopefully remain hard to beat.’
When asked on the magnitude of today’s clash against City, Harder said: ‘Every game is important, we have to get three points in almost every game we’re playing to get the title we want.’
Hayes had praised Blues fans for their fantastic support on Wednesday evening and Harder has echoed the comments from her manager, reiterating just how important the Blues faithful are.
‘The fans are always really important and we hear them always! They cheer us on during the game and it gives us just so much energy.’
Today’s game is being broadcast live on BBC Two, kicking off at 12.30pm (UK time).
