It has been a great start to 2022 for Emma Hayes’s team, who are unbeaten since the turn of the year, winning five of our seven competitive fixtures and drawing two.

Navigating a challenging month, the Blues earned four points out of a possible six against Manchester City and Arsenal, keeping clean sheets against two of the league’s most dangerous attacks.

Berger has had a fantastic run since the start of the year and is yet to concede so far in 2022. The Blues’ keeper made some crucial saves along the way, including her world-class diving effort to deny Manchester City’s Jess Park from finding the top corner.

The Blues’ No.30 also made the shortlist for best goalkeeper at The Best FIFA Football Awards in January.

Carter has also been in fine form since returning from the Christmas break, putting in defensively strong performances including against both Arsenal and Manchester City earlier in the month, keeping clean sheets on both occasions. Our No.7 also set up the only goal of the game against City, looping an inch-perfect cross for Guro Reiten to head home.

The 24-year-old’s impressive string of performances earned a Lionesses call-up to take part in the Arnold Clark Cup.

Our players will return from international duty later this week and will go straight into preparations for the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Leicester City, taking place at Kingsmeadow this Saturday.
